About the studio
Founded in Bern
Radduwoodb opened in 2018 when landscape stylist Mara Duwood relocated her practice from Zurich to a ground-floor atelier on Bundesgasse. The studio name blends her family name with a nod to the larch wood used in many Bern terrace planters.
Today a team of four stylists, one horticultural technician, and a part-time studio manager serve residential and commercial clients across canton Bern and neighbouring Solothurn.
Design philosophy
We believe gardens should respond to place before fashion. Alpine light angles, Aare valley humidity, and municipal water restrictions shape every palette we propose. Imported tropical specimens are avoided unless a client operates a controlled greenhouse.
Styling means orchestrating colour, scent, movement, and silence — not filling every corner with decoration. Negative space in gravel paths and winter dormancy are treated as design assets.
Team expertise
Mara holds a diploma in landscape architecture from HAFL and fifteen years of planting supervision on Swiss heritage properties. Senior stylist Jonas Rebmann specialises in commercial entrance sequences and rooftop load calculations for container gardens.
Horticultural technician Elise Baumann maintains nursery relationships across Bern-Mittelland and verifies plant health at delivery. Studio manager Claire Oertli handles scheduling, invoicing, and client correspondence in German, French, and English.
Studio space
Visitors are welcome by appointment to review material samples, past concept boards, and a reference library of regional planting guides. The atelier holds weekly open mornings on Thursdays from 10:00 to 12:00 without booking.
We do not operate a retail nursery or sell plants directly. All sourcing flows through partner growers so clients receive wholesale pricing and traceable provenance.
Community involvement
Radduwoodb sponsors the Bern Botanical Garden's urban pollinator programme and contributes planting plans for two primary school courtyards each year on a pro-bono basis.
Staff lecture twice annually at the HAFL continuing education series on residential seasonal planning. We decline sponsorship arrangements that require endorsing products we do not specify in client work.
